Waiting for Destiny

There are two types of people in this world: those who chase after their destiny, and those who wait for their destiny to come to them. Too often people sit around waiting for something magical to happen. Their big break, so to speak, might be right around the next corner. They hope, wish and pray for things without putting in any effort to make them come to fruition. They are what we call The Sleepers. And we all know the old adage... that nothing comes to a sleeper but a dream. God blesses the child that has his own. But God really blesses the one's that go out and create their own (Bill Gates, 50 cent, Jay-Z, Oprah, Bob Johnson, Martha Steward, etc). Most people think that their Destiny will just show up and knock on their door; mysteriously appearing from the shadows. They sit around and invest their time and money in meaningless things, waiting for that illusive destiny. These are the kids of people who spend significant amounts of money on things like lottery tickets, television, radio, strip clubs, and so on. Those are the same people who will one day look back and regret their hesitation to pursue their destiny. While they were waiting for Destiny to come around and bump into them, someone else was chasing Destiny with a large net. In the book, "As A Man Thinketh," it says, "all that a man/woman achieves and all that he fails to achieve is the direct result of impurities that are his own and not another mans; they are brought about by himself. Therefore his suffering and happiness are evolved from within. As he thinks, so he is; as he continues to think, so he remains. A man can only rise, conquer, and achieve by lifting up his thoughts. He can only remain weak, an object, and miserable, by refusing to lift up his thoughts." The point is this; as long as people wait on their destiny, they will never reach their ultimate goals in life. There are too many people that have taken their dreams with them to the grave. As they say, "The graveyards aer full of men with good intentions." And for all the people out there that continue to chase after Destiny... don't give up, she will run, she will even try to hide.... but sooner or later, she will stop running and hiding and let you know that she's ready to be taken.

I walked into work this morning weary, exhausted and depleted. These words struck me like the impact of two trains colliding - real talk. "As a Man Thinketh" I'm a have to grab that immediately!!! What do you do; how do you stay so focused and positive? Spirituality, intellect, do you know? What have you internalized or maybe you are just naturally driven? What you wrote is so uplifting, motivational, positive and real. I might try to incorporate a daily reading of this one - so that I never forget, get side tracked, hood winked or bamboozled. Through all the New Years Resolution waiting to be broken, and promises and statements that are never kept. This is real talk for a new _______?

I accidentally found this blog buy I'm glad I found it. What you've written is inspiring, we often overlook our daily activities and dream of what the future/destiny will be but we do not find ways to obtain it. After reading what you wrote it gives hope to the ones that are go getters but were just sleep.

lol, somethings we can't help but wait for. I need to work on my patience. Things break for me but not as fast as I would like them to. Sometimes I have to wait on Destiny to fulfill itself in my doings.

what is this real freeway rick crap? everybody thats somebody know who Freeway Rick is.we also know whho the Freeway Boys are.I'm looking at all these pictures on the web site and it doesnt look like the freeway organization that's known for helping the communitiy to prosperity.Everyone thats taken a role in this organization will be held to high standards.pull yo pants up. half of you dont know any of the freeway boys or rick,so understand what you bring to the table.2009 get money. g&%*p

what's crazy is that i actually read that book "as a man thinketh."

anyway, i'm in a female student in hawaii. currently taking a writing intensive class on hip hop urban literature. (pretty neat huh?) it was hip hop or american literature and i'm glad i chose this class. well, i'm writing a 6 page paper on criminalization of african-american youth of the inner cities and learned some pretty interesting facts about our governemnt and history. did a lot of research, learned of gary webb's work, watched "letter to the president," (which you all should watch) and even came across your blog!

my rough draft is due tomorrow and i don't even know why i'm replying to your blog. just thought i'd comment on you keeping your head up. marked your blog into my favorites and will definitely be returning to this web site frequently. =)

And you are right alot of time we don't realize what we have. Definitely a blessing to be breathing. You are right all these things are just small. And you shouldn't sweat the small things.
