Mixed Emotions

There are a lot of things going on right now with the rapper that stole my identity.  It's been tough on me because part of me whats to jump on him and beat him in the ground for being so arrogant and disrespectful, and then there is another part that said judge another brother that the system has made a clown out of.  Build him up and now they are going to let him be turned down.  I know that Def Jam is probably going to abandon him now, just another puppet, and they start to look for another to replace him.  What people need to do is look at the root, because Def Jam is just as responsible as he is. Now you know they did a back ground check, but they don't care what they feed our kids as long as they get their dollars. When will we wake up America and learn that there are more important things than the all mighty dollar?  It took me going to prison to wake up.  Is it going to take us to lose our country? Because America is definitely falling.  Just about everybody I talk to tells me how hard it is in almost every industry. I don't know, maybe I am confused. CAN SOMEBODY PLEASE HELP ME FIGURE THIS THING OUT!!!

Peace.

RAP RIGHT NOW IS ABOUT AS FAKE AS WRESTLING.
THIS DUDES PAST DOESNT SURPRISE ME OR CHANGE THE WAY I SEE HIM AT ALL BECAUSE HE'S JUST A CHARACTER.
IM SURE HIS RECORD LABEL WILL FIND NEW MONEY IF HE DOESNT BRING IT ANYMORE.

DEAR RICKY ROSS.

90% OF THESE RAPPERS ARE SOME FAKE ASS NI99AS. BUT THIS FOOL TOOK IT TOO FAR!! STEALING YOUR IDENTITY SO HE CAN BE FAMOUS. WHAT A PUNK BITCH. THE RAP GAME IS SO FAKE NOW. i wouldn't even stress over dude. i mean it's one thing to say "im the biggest boss, i stay selling coke", and get caught out there. he could've easily said "oh, i was just playin y'all", but nah, he chose to KEEP lying, as if we would believe him even though his government name and social weren't connected! in the court of public opinion, dude is finished. rap fans know a lot of this is fantasy and entertainment anyways, but when people start trying to really think its real, and make you think its real, its pure comedy.

in terms of dude taking your name, im not sure what legal avenues you have. i mean, a name is a name... i say why not try and see how you can sue or get some reparations back due to the light he's putting your name in, especially if you are trying to make that change.

regardless, keep your head up and stay sane.

I personally feel like you should approach both "Freeway" and "Rick Ross" about doing some joint appearances at some high schools when you get out. Because what they are doing is destructive, point-blank period.

I'm 27 and grew up in a two parent household with parents who read to me and let me know that I was either going to graduate school (not just college) or the belt would come out (I'm working on number two now). Most kids these days don't have that and can't distinguish between this hip-hop nonsense and real life. I saw two six year olds running down the block, pretending to shoot at each other the other day. they said they were playing a game called "50 Cent and Game." Note, they weren't emulating the business skills of those two brothers, or even the writing skills. No, they were emulating the violence.

I don't know what legal recourse you have either, but I would try and explore whatever avenues are available. Hip-hop which always walked the line between illustrating the tough choices that people were forced to make while describing the destructiveness of those choices, has devolved into this morally relativistic subculture wherein even today's so-called "conscious" rappers perform on the same bill with rappers with song titles like "Get Shot the Fuck Up."

Don't go the destructive route and go after that dude physically. I would write him and/or his management a letter, maybe see if you can finagle a radio interview or two, maybe even a guest column on one of these hip-hop sites, and explain to people how harmful what this man is doing actually is. But not just him. There's hundreds like him. They may not all have the same platform, but everyone of these big rappers has a dozen or more affiliate rappers, misguiding people. You actually can generate some interest, and some people will listen.

William Roberts can pick up your name and wear it but it will always fit him like a 10 year old boy wearing his father’s full length trench coat. Let him wear it. Let him reveal and wonder what it’s like to be dad. I got you – but don’t be pissed. The more people hate then the more you have it going on. I understand that you are incarcerated – but how much more could he hate on you then by wanting to be you. William is a legend in his own mind. You are a legend in the Reagan Administration, the CIA under William Casey and countless other individuals. I sold dope and I don’t respect you for that – big deal. You are respected for the transformation from the man you were into the man that you are. Anybody can call themselves Double R; but a finger print was left on America that only you can match. Get out of Texarkana, tear down oppression and injustice – leave this country a better place then before……………..and I’ll be there to meet you on the “Freeway”!

...one more thing. Spike Lee sued Viacom over the name Spike TV and I believe he got 2 million dollars? Black people are quick to walk away - thats partly why we as a people have so little. Think of the good you could do and the programs you could start. Think about seeking legal counsel.

Greetings Rick,

First let me say it is with great respect I now write to you.

Regarding the situation with dude, at first I felt it was out of respect and admiration he chose to take your name. You know, in the Hip Hop sorta way.

But now, with the skeletons jumpin' out the closet - it seems he has tarnished your image. I feel if would have just come clean from the jump and told everyone the truth - it could have been handled differently. But that has nothing to do with him taking your name.

Well that's my 2 cents. Again, much respect Freeway.

Dude your a black man in jail..people won't care unless your other color. I suggest you get over it or put a case against him. Instead of whinning on blogs like a little girl. Peace

Ricky Ross said...

As always, I support you 100%. Whatever you want to do, I am here for you. I understand your inner turmoil, but you will make the best decision as to how to handle this. You always do. I love you.

Ricky Ross said...

Ade: Maybe more so, and it's defintely worse because they are promoting a real struggle. They are promoting a lifestyle that people are living out of ignorance and their circumstances. And you are right, its just a character, the record label will find another character to replace him. $RR$

Ricky Ross said...

Young 5moke: I think he went too far too. And then to stand in front of the world and lie... Yea, probably wont effect his career. I wonder if he is even the one rapping. You are right, I am going to have to look into sueing him. I defintely dig that because he ain't going to throw none. $RR$

Ricky Ross said...

FreshSeth: Thanks for the respect. I thought it was like that too but he has a way of fooling people. Yea, he defintely put a dark spot on my image, it should have been handled differently. Your two cents was appericated and respected. $RR$

Ricky Ross said...

khal: You are right, no need to stress. Only a fool would say they still sell coke. The feds would be all over their ass. I'm wondering how he is going to handle it when he comes back out. Heard he was on the radio last night saying that he has 200 pair of shades and he breaks them after he wears them one time. He is just really entertainment. I agree, pure comedy. And you are right, I am going to look up the legal ave. They may make me rich. The only way from here is up. $RR$

Ricky Ross said...

bhiksu: Yea, that would be good. But with the type of music that they rap, I don't think any high school would have them. They may be doing more destruction than I did. Sounds like you had some good parents. What did you study in school? You are correct that most of our kids are growing up on BET or MTV, and the heroes the kids are picking are terrible. Well, one of the things I plan on doing is teaching kids how to make a business deal when they are grown. I defintely wont go the destructive route. That sounds like a good idea and as a matter of fact I will start doing that today. I am going to take your advice, I really appreciate it. I may get some help. You sound pretty educated, would you lean a hand? $RR$

Ricky Ross said...

KP: Thank you, that brought a smile to my face! He will never know what it's like to be daddy. That makes sense. That's true, I do go down with the Reagan Admin. I am not mad at you for not respecting me for selling drugs, thank you for reminding me. You are correct, I do want to leave this place a better place than when I got here. Alright, I will see you on the freeway. Peace and Love. $RR$

Ricky Ross said...

Anonymous: You know what? You made a good point. I am going to look for the proper attorney today. I always take good advice seriously. $RR$

Ricky Ross said...

Thanks Wendy, I really appericate your support. You have been helping me with my inner turmoil since we met and your support is unmatched by any. That's why I have much love for you. $RR$

personaly i think there is nothing wrong with being a officer, except about lying about it...Something is seriously wrong with him taking a name from a huge drug dealer who is more than unworthy to be a role model!....and as for "freeway rick"
i think your are in this for the money... on another website you said "i was like a big brother to him....i told him he couldn't be like me..." but if this was true which i find it hard to believe it is... u would have to be held in Florida. but you are held in Texarkanza, is that correct? If so you are no more than the lying man you were decades ago. Who is still in it for the money.....

CTC411.COM said...

Hey Anonymous, you ever heard of a telephone?

Ricky Ross said...

Anonymous I agree with you. I don't think there is anything wrong with them either until they cross the line. See you can't be an officer and a thug, they just don't mix. And if he was one and changed, that should be acceptable too, as long as you know the roles. You are right, the drug dealer shouldn't be a role model. Well of course I need to make some money. This is a capatilist society. He is making money off my name. Along with all the rest of the phat cats that haven't paid no price. And no I didn't say I was like a big brother to him, I said I talked to him like a big brother. And no, we talked over the phone and I was in Texarkana. For the record, the only type of person that would be anonymous and lie would be a coward. I am far from either. I am not afraid of anything. $RR$

@ Rick Ross :
F#ck that chicken $hyt , anynomous bull$hyt! Dude sounds like a "Fake Rick Ross" Stan.

He's hugging the Fake "RR" 's nutz so tight , he can't see the real world , only Fake "RR" pubic hairs.

Get that money legally , & sue them dudes for " 3rd Degree Intentional B3tcha$$ness" , and using your image & likeness without permission. Let the jury decide.

Obviously , anonymous see's nothing wrong with nutriding , legally , he is infringing. He based his whole career on your image & lifestyle. It's business.

Once you hit the scene again . the WWF rap soap Opera will be exposed. More importantly , the sinister motivations & ramifications affecting Black America should be exposed.

Sue him , his label , distributer , shyt , even sue the venues that booked & promoted this fraud. You have nothing to lose.

I would have at least thought that this punk who idolized you enough to tattoo your name on his hands , would have ensured that your prison sentence was made as economically comfortable as possible.

That's the least his maggot a$$ could have done in my opinion. (IMO)

Real Ni99a's do real things.

This Ballkorn Ni99a has went overboard. Way overboard. If he won't remove your testicles from his mouth voluntarily , a finacial penalty is definately in order.

On a side note , if the chucken$hyt anonymous poster doesn't voluntarily disattach himself from your penis as well , sue him too , unless he is broke , then he just gets the $hyt slapped outta him. Rick Ro$$ style. LOL

Hey Rick,

I wouldn't take this too personally... He chose an iconic figure for his stage name, much like Brad Jordan choosing Scarface. What more iconic figure than "Freeway Rick Ross"?

If you're gonna sue, be the bigger man and pour that money into something positive like what your doing at freewayenterprise.com (maybe even start your own label?) or pour it into social investments like halfway houses and foster kids, people who need it.

Someone once told me that to forgive someone is like setting a prisoner free, then discovering that the prisoner was you.

Much love,
Ryan

Vengeance is mine...I will repay. Sometimes u just have to sit back and let these rappers hang themselves. Glad they are being exposed for who and what they really AREN'T! Didn't know William actually had a convo with you and didn't respect u enough to even come shake a brother's hand!...again...Vengeance is mine...I will repay...just sit back and watch some MAJOR ones fall off!...b/c there's more where William came from!

With the internet and especially wikipedia.. I don't think anyone is actually going to think he is the "Rick Ross". People should enjoy music for the music, not for the history (or fake history) one is trying to portray...

Is it that you don't want to be remembered for what you have done or you do? I honestly can say I have never heard of Rick Ross as I don't try and stay up with the people behinds the drugs... but due to the rapper using your name, I now know who you are.

Life is too short to care about things like this... I am not positive what you feeling about him using your "past" identity, as it seems you are still trying to figure that out... but remember it's history.. the past.. you will be a new man in 2010 and that's when your new life will begin!

It's terrible that rappers have more influences over todays youth than anyone else, and all they do is glorify something they were rarely a part of. I'm sure some of these rappers hustled, but if they were ever that successful, they wouldn't be rapping; and I was taught Gangsters don't talk about business in front of outsiders, let alone on a hit song for anyone and everyone to listen to and examine. I'm real glad you're movin on a positive note, that's something kids don't ever see now days.

Ricky Ross said...

Matsiko: How are you doing? Yea I don't take it personal, I take it as a compliment. But there are ways to do certain things. And your kind words flatter me. I will defintely pour the money into something positive. What about building a youth center in the heart of the ghetto? Freeway Enterprise is going to be ok on its own. Its growing by the day. The record label too. Halfway house is a good idea as well as foster kids. Would you be willing to help with any of those? You know it takes a village to raise a child. I will start working on forgiving him. You make a very good point. And I am probably the prisoner they will be setting free. $Triple R$

Ricky Ross said...

Left lane Films: Well the only reason it's an influence is because the powers that be are promoting him. It's like good versus evil. If you promote good they want play you. You are right good hustlers don't rap. You took the words right out my mouth. Only a fool will get on tape and say he made 10mil. selling dope. I couldn't have said it better myself. Yes I am trying to move on a positive note. And I think when the kids see me they will know its ok to try something different. Thanks for the comments and stay in touch. $Triple R$

Ricky Ross said...

Anonymous: It's all good. Couldn't ask for much more. Yea so you know how it is. I have to agree with you most of them are fake, we don't like them using our name in vain. But what other playa would take another playas name? And you know nobody wants to do 20 years in prison. We have to start setting a positive example to get the record straight. Well my partner Jimmy DaSaint is about to get out. He has been shot ten times and on life support. Got the bullet wounds to prove it. Attempted Kidnapping. And he is going to let them know that the game is not a game its serious business. Thanks for reaching out and stay in touch. Real Reconized Real. $Triple R$

Tiffany: Hey, what's up? Nice to meet you. Thanks for reaching out and touching me, and leaving a comment. I really enjoy to hear what people have to say. Yea I hear there are alot of Rick Ross wanna bees out there. I wouldn't say that they are stupid, just uneducated. We have been tricked to believe that selling drugs is easy. What's easy about it is that you can learn from anywhere. But it's one of the toughest busniess to go into. So try not to hold it aganist the guys. Remember, the system has has been engineered so that the brother feels that selling drugs or basketball or rapping is the only way out. You know there are more brothers in prison than college? Hey tell Lil Rick I said what's up. You do all you can to make sure he don't fall into the trap. Peace. $Triple R$

I don't think that there is an issue of forgiveness here. The labels need to learn to be more careful in the WWF identities that they are selecting for our children to see on BET/MTV. Another lawsuit may help them to get a clue.

Also, if I hear 'ignorance' excused as mere 'entertainment' one more time, I'm going to throw-up!

RR: I am very appreciative that you are turning a new leaf. May the Lord bless His vision for your path.

HEY RICKY IM SO HAPPY TO HEAR FROM YOU!LOL IS IT OK IF I SEND YOU A LETTER IN THE MAIL? I WANTED TO GET YOUR PERMISSION. I WOULD LIKE TO GET TO KNOW YOU A LITTLE BETTER IF THATS OK WITH YOU? Do you have my address? It's on the site. I would love to get to know you a little better. Tell your son I said to stay in school. Peace and love to you too. $Triple R$
